Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced reverse engineer to help restore functionality to a legacy Windows application built with Python and packaged using PyInstaller.

The original licensing servers are permanently offline due to the project being abandoned after a business dispute. This is a legitimate continuity/restoration request for private use.

Scope of Work
  • Analyze a PyInstaller-packed Python 3.11 executable
  • Identify and document the existing license validation logic
  • Restore full application functionality where licensing blocks execution
  • Implement a new private license system (API-based)
  • Secure backend API and simple web dashboard/storefront

Technical Notes
  • PyInstaller archive already extracted
  • Custom obfuscation present beyond standard PyInstaller
  • Original application communicated with a remote JSON API for licensing
  • No source code or documentation available

Ideal Candidate
  • Strong Python reverse engineering experience
  • Familiar with PyInstaller internals and .pyc analysis
  • Comfortable dealing with obfuscation
  • Able to clearly document findings and changes

Budget & Timeline
  • Budget: Flexible (mid–high range depending on experience)
  • Timeline:
